November Favorites!

1 December 2012

It's that time of the month again (no, not THAT time of the month), it's the time for monthly favorites! Wow December already, the month of festivities and happiness and a brand new month to try the latest beauty products! November was a really big month for me, it was the month I finished my HSC and the feeling was exhilarating believe me. I also tried out a variety of products that I actually ended up loving!

Bourjois Healthy Mix Foundation: I will do a detailed review of this foundation soon but to sum it up I absolutely LOVE this foundation! Especially for the summer months where you don't want to wear too much makeup. It leaves a luminous dewy finish and it certainly makes your skin look more healthy. It blends like a dream and is great for people with normal to combination skin. This foundation gives light to medium buildable coverage so if you prefer a heavier coverage (think MAC Studio Fix) then this may not be for you.

Sebamed Face & Body Wash: I actually got sent a sample of this product and I was a bit skeptical to try it. I have very sensitive and acne prone skin and my skin wasn't looking it's greatest when I received it. I've never heard of the brand before and the product was also very heavily fragranced. I left it in my beauty stash for about 2 months before I broke out like crazy and thought "what the heck, what have I got to lose?" so I tried it out. INSTANTLY my skin felt so much cleaner and so much smoother and overtime it got rid of all the crazy bumps on my face. This can also be used as a body wash and I've read some reviews stating that it makes a great shampoo but I can't confirm that since I've only used it on my face. This product is great for sensitive skin.

Goldwell Deep Cleansing Shampoo: I got a haircut a few weeks ago because I had so many split ends, my hair was falling out and it was dry to the core. All this are results of heat styling so try putting away the straightener for days you don't really need it. I made a promise to myself and my hair that I'm going to take care of it and prevent it from getting extremely damaged. I actually discovered this shampoo through my sister who loved it so I gave it a try and the results were evident: silky, soft hair with no product residue left behind. My hair had so much more volume and I couldn't stop touching it! Before this shampoo I was using the Sunsilk shampoo in the orange bottle and that left my hair feeling weighted and disgusting. I definitely recommend this shampoo, it is definitely on the pricey side (Hairhouse Warehouse: $20) but you can purchase it for much cheaper at Beautybay.com ($10). Give it a try and I promise you won't regret it!

Tangle Teezer: You all know how much I LOVE the Tangle Teezer so I won't bore you again. But if you want to know then you can read my review here.

Carmex: Do you suffer from chapped lips? Do you suffer from dry flaky skin on your lips? Do you lips burn because of cold wind? Yes? Don't worry I hear you. That why you buy Carmex! This product, just like the shampoo was introduced to me by my sister when I was suffering from extremely dry lips around the winter time. I had an extremely bad cold and my lips were disgusting and I thought nothing will cure them. Vaseline wasn't doing the trick so when I tried Carmex I thought it was a miracle! My lips were so smooth and soft. I will warn you though, the menthol in this product does make your lips have a burning sensation but that doesn't bother me too much. So thank you Carmex!

Ardell Heated Lash Curler: Let me tell you something about this eyelash curler, it has a special padding which heats up instantly and lifts your lashes for va-va-voom volume. I've never been very blessed in the eyelash department unfortunately so normal lash curlers never did the trick. This lash curler on the other hand makes sure your eyelashes stay curly throughout the whole day! Sometimes when I want to go mascara free I just curl my lashes and I'm out the door. This would be especially great for people with straight eyelashes or people with hard to curl lashes.

So that's it beauties! Another month has passed us, I wish you all a happy, safe festive month and I hope you get all the Christmas presents you've been wanting. Now off to another month filled with great beauty favorites!

Bobbi Brown Pretty Powerful

30 November 2012

Hello lovelies! I'm back with a new post for you all. Now if you've been living under a rock for the past couple of months (don't worry, I totally understand) then I'll tell you that Bobbi Brown has released a brand spanking new book called Pretty Powerful. The book includes inspiring stories and beautiful looks for you to recreate at home! Now I wouldn't call this post a review as I haven't read the whole book yet but so far I can say that I am quite liking it. If you're a beginner in the makeup world and you would like to know some tips and tricks then this book would be great for you, but otherwise the content is pretty basic.

This book is filled with photos of beautiful women from all different cultures and backgrounds and their story of how they became "pretty powerful". I haven't owned Bobbi's previous books so I have nothing to compare this book to but I really love the concept of diversity and empowering women. I will have a detailed review up as soon as I finish reading!

Do you have any beauty books that you would recommend?

This book was sent to me from beautyheaven. This is not a sponsored post and all opinions are my own.

Where have I been?

28 November 2012

Okay okay I know I've been bad and haven't been updating this blog as much as I hoped but I have a reason I promise! So before you want to punish me hear me out. For the last couple of months I've been  in the middle of the HSC which if you don't live in Australia or NSW the HSC is a University entrance exam which you take at the end of your final year in high school. I'm sorry that I was gone for so long but now I'm on my holidays so I have plenty of time to update my blog and let you all know what's happening in the beauty world (no excuses!).

A few upcoming posts that you should look forward too:
-  A look at Bobbi Brown's "Pretty Powerful" book!
- Clarisonic Mia 2 first impressions
- A lot of product reviews!

Until next time!

Review: Tangle Teezer

Why hello my beautiful readers, long time no talk! An update post will follow this post and I'll tell you where I've been and what I've been doing with my life. Today I'm here to review the one and only Tangle Teezer! Now if you don't know what the Tangle Teezer does its a hairbrush specially designed to remove tangles from the hair without any pulling, tugging or hair breakage. Sounds pretty nifty right? Well I decided to try it out because if you're a fellow curly haired girl like moi then you'll understand the crucial pain it takes to brush your hair in the morning or after a shower. When you first look at the Tangle Teezer you realize it doesn't seem to appear like a normal hairbrush (e.g. handle, different bristles etc.). It's bristles are made of plastic and are very close together, now when I was about to try this on my hair I was scared the bristles would snap or break but don't worry darlings it a tough girl, she can handle anything! I was so surprised how effortlessly it glided through my hair and removed my tangles without pain or any yanking!

This brush is especially great to brush your hair after you come home from a long night and need to brush out all the teasing you did to your hair to give it an extra bit of oomph. This little baby is very handy and can fit in your purse or just about anywhere so you can have it wherever you go. The Tangle Teezer comes in so many fun colours and if you're a mum then you would know how hard it is to brush your little girls hair, so that's why they created a fun flowerpot Tangle Teezer so she can brush her hair and have fun while doing so! Overall my hair has now started looking much healthier and much thicker (crazy I know!) and I want to keep brushing my hair because it's so amazing how it just slides through your hair. This brush has really proven that  hairbrushes really do effect the overall appearance and health of your hair and I will recommend this to anyone with crazy hair like I do.

*The Tangle Teezers above are in the colours Disco Purple and Bubblegum Pink. Purchased from Beautybay.com.

16th July.

16 July 2012

My whole day consisted of eating chocolate, shopping and reading books. Even though "Style" by Lauren Conrad isn't recent and many say it's too "basic", I actually always turn back to it as I find it very enjoyable. The glossy pages and the beautiful photos makes me want to read more. I'm not what you call a fan of Lauren Conrad, as I find her style a bit on the average side but if it's a book and it has something to do with fashion and beauty then count me in! Plus this book looks really nice as a decoration piece for your bedroom or living room, so if you don't enjoy it then don't worry, it's a multitasking book.

On a sadder note, school is starting for me tomorrow and it's my last term so I'll be graduating in a few months (eek!) it just feels like yesterday I started high school. But I won't go all emotional on you guys, as they say when one chapter ends another chapter opens so soon I'll be doing what I love and spending the rest of my life working on my dream.

I'm thinking of getting a better quality camera as I take my pictures with my iPhone 4S so if you have any recommendations then please leave it in the comments below! I don't know anything about cameras so it will be nice if I can get a little help. So I should go as Masterchef is about to start (go Andy!) and that's one of the few shows I CANNOT miss.

Review: Cetaphil Daily Facial Cleanser

15 July 2012

Okay so first review and you must be thinking, Cetaphil!? You've GOT to be joking! But no beauties, I am not joking. Regardless of the fact that Cetaphil has boring packaging and isn't that exciting to look at I just think it is so underrated. So my story of trying Cetaphil for the first time was like everyone else, breaking out and it's time for a new cleanser so I decided to pick it up. When I first used it I was so disappointed as it didn't lather up and I felt it didn't clean my face as much as I wanted it too. I kept using it for two weeks because I was not going to let my money go to waste and what I realized is my face has cleared up IMMENSELY, to the point where I don't have any new breakouts anymore. Now, my skin is so sensitive that every cleanser decides to rip it to shreds but this cleanser is so gentle and it's free from any harmful chemicals. It removes light makeup so if you're wearing thick foundation you'll need to cleanse it extremely thoroughly to wash it all off. But if you're suffering from acne or breakouts and nothing seems to be working for you, I highly recommend the Cetaphil Daily Facial Cleanser, they even make one for oily skin.

Packaging: 8/10
Price: 10/10
Product: 10/10

What do you think of Cetaphil? Leave it in the comments below!
Overall thoughts: LOVE Cetaphil. This has become my holy grail cleanser and it just shows to never judge a cleanser by its packaging. What makes it pretty is all the harmful chemicals. So if you can pick it up, I definitely recommend it to everyone!
